Long Island is a rich water world with its surface 90% or more covered in an ocean of water.
- The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 10% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
- This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
- This world has high-grade living conditions with a good climate and a non-harmful environment. As such, this world is much sought after with large queues for immigration here.
- Most observers think that the planet's economy and population will prosper in the near future barring outside forces.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Matarishan Subsector of Ley Sector in the Domain of Gateway.

Mainworld Geography & Topography[edit]
The world is named for its single land mass, an island over 250 kilometres long but rarely more than 40 kilometres wide. The rest of the planet is covered in oceans which are farmed from underwater settlements.
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Extensive native life. The maritime element of the planetary security force is involved in a constant battle with the world's large aquatic predators which are attracted to the fish farms.
One area of note is the Great Forest, an area of shallows populated by tall, tree-like plants. These breach the surface, with the tallest standing tens of metres out of the water. Free-floating sea plants in the lower fronds create a unique environment which supports a huge range of animal life both above and below the surface.
History & Background / Dossier[edit]
Long Island is noted for its marine cities and fish farms. Among its assets are deep-diving submarines carrying orbital defence missiles. The missiles are built offworld and shipped in, but the subs are of local design.
Imperial High / Landed Nobility[edit]
World Starport[edit]
Long Island has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Long Island has a population of 10,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).
Urbanization[edit]
Most of the population live on the Long Island itself, or in cities built on the continental shelf close to it. The only significant inland settlement is the startown surrounding the downport.
World Technology Level[edit]
Long Island possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Advanced automobiles.
- Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
- Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
- Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government[edit]
Long Island is governed by a Charismatic Oligarchy, like a charismatic dictatorship in that a larger group has asserted their right to rule. The group will have better rules of succession and may last longer or may transition to a non-charismatic dictatorship.
- Specifically, the rulers are a hereditary pseudo-nobility made of business owners and financiers, most of whom have interests on the surrounding worlds or even farther afield.
World Military[edit]

World Law (L)[edit]
Long Island has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A world with this law level may be an Amber Zone or a Red Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. On worlds with this degree of law, it is difficult to distinguish the police from the military. On others, there is no difference.
